Proposed telecommunications facility , Teales Lookout Rd ,
Mt Jerusalem National Park , Koonyum Range 2482

After the last disaster I think we can all agree on at least two points:

  1. Our mobile phone towers largely failed us. Unless a person had a satellite phone, a hand held radio or in some cases a landline, the vast majority relying on towers found themselves with zero communications at a very dangerous time.
  2. The tower at the post office caught on fire creating another emergency even though it wasn’t able to operate.

The poorest performer during our real life emergency were the towers, we learned those lessons with first hand experience, ignoring the evidence makes no sense, yet, that is what our community is being asked to do.

We have until Nov 4th to ask questions as to why we are being sold a towerunder the guise of helping us when it’s the least appropriate option?

Disaster Plan

Last week CatalystOne sent a registered letter to my property address on Wilsons Creek Rd, a UHF radio tower is proposed for Teales Lookout, Koonyum Range to improve our emergency communications in a disaster.

Tower Plan

The deserted Teales Lookout position with a high fire danger rating, no on-site water and a fire truck is not appropriate for a demonstrated risk.

Sean Jeffs, who signed the letter, (after a quick search) is actually employed by Amalgamotion P/L who build towers that are so big and so high I bet you can see them from space! They’re so large they’re in every bodies backyard!

Sean states on Amalgamotion’s website and I paraphrase: ‘once a tower goes up via one avenue of approval it can then be used to achieve many other goals’. Lendlease, Telstra, etc all highly commend Amalgamotion for achieving ‘exact goals’, ‘no matter the challenge’, ‘without compromise’.

Obviously they are planning a very large tower for an antenna that will really only be used during emergencies and what Sean has failed to mention is what else is going on the tower?
According to the ACMA website, the golf course tower in Mullumbimby’s latest upgrade a couple of weeks ago is now pumping out a whopping 81 Ghz because once the tower goes up, we just have to live with NBN or Optus or Telstras “exact goals”.

We have until Nov 4th to ask questions as to why we are being sold a tower under the guise of helping us when it’s the least appropriate option?

Some questions we have already asked and will keep you posted with their response :
* Will your facility be subject to so called upgrades to increase its radiation ?
* Will other carriers have the possibility of also utilising this site?
* Do you have liability insurance which covers for the well documented radiation effects upon and into the human body?

MORE INFORMATION

“The New South Wales Department of Education has a preference for a distance of at least 500 metres from the boundary of schools, from mobile telecommunications facilities. The Education Department supports objections against mobile telecommunications facilities near school grounds. Busy Kids Day Care Centre has enrolled 90 kids/babies aged between 6mths- 6years. Periwinkle Preschool has enrolled 44 kids aged 3yrs to 6yrs. And are both 300 metres from this tower location. Cool Beanz day care has enrolled 75 kids/babies from 6 weeks old to 6 years. And is 350 metres from this site. A total of 199 kids/babies within close proximity to this very ’sensitive site’  proposed 5G upgrade. The tower is currently omitting 1800MHz and proposed 5G upgrade will omit double that to 3500MHz. (https://policies.education.nsw.gov.au/policy-library/policies/mobile-telecommunications-facilities)
