Dr. Russell Cooper’s CV extends across many disciplines of medicine, complementary medicine and mind body medicine.

He graduated at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1981 being awarded an MBBCh, and worked as a senior medical officer in multiple disciplines of medicine in South Africa and England from 1982-1984. In 1987 he was a Registrar in Accident and Emergency Medicine at the Launceston General Hospital Tasmania, Australia.In 1988 Dr Cooper commenced a fulltime integrative medical practice in Hobart, Tasmania.
In 1993 he 
built Anubha Mountain Health Retreat in Fern Tree in the hills around Mt Wellington near Hobart which continues to be a progressive and nurturing center for patients seeking a complementary approach for physical and spiritual wellbeing in Tasmania and the mainland of Australia.

Dr. Cooper has had extensive training and experience in Anti-Ageing Medicine and specifically bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), He attends multiple international conferences each year and has the largest practice of BHRT in Tasmania. He runs a comprehensive investigation and treatment program for male and female hormonal decline and is involved in introducing innovative testing procedures in Australasia and internationally, which provide enhanced safety and efficacy.

Dr Cooper has been instrumental in introducing genetic testing for polymorphisms in Australia for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, menopause/andropause, the metabolic syndrome, eating according to your genes (Nutrigenomics) and individualised gene based drug treatment (Pharmacogenomics).

He has been awarded Australasian Fellowships in:
Nutritional & Environmental Medicine (FACNEM)
Herbal Medicine  (FACoHM)
Acupuncture  (FAMAC)

He has achieved Board Certification of the American Board of Anti-Ageing and Regenerative Medicine (ABAARM)
He completed the first diploma in Preventive and Anti-Aging Medicine through the European Society of Anti-Aging Medicine (ESAAM).

Dr. Cooper has lectured extensively on Nutritional and Mind Body Medicine internationally for 20 years.
In 1992 he presented a lecture on the wholistic approach to cancer treatment to the 8th Academy of Family Medicine National Congress in South Africa. He has lectured to the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Cancer support groups and the Theosophical Society for many years.

He has lectured on Human Growth Hormone and Anti- Ageing Medicine at the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine Special Training Program in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, & 2005 in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2002 Dr. Cooper was the guest lecturer on Growth Hormone at Faculty of Family Practice, School of Medicine, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
In 2003, 2004 and 2005 he was invited to lecture on Growth Hormone at the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgeons and Physicians annual Conference on the Gold Coast.
He was a guest lecturer at the University of Hong Kong Medical School annual Conference ‘Advances in Medicine 2004’ where he lectured on Human Growth Hormone Deficiency in adults and the value of replacement therapy.
He also conducts intensive Human Growth Hormone seminars to doctors throughout Australasia and each year which commenced in 2001 and continues at present. He has also conducted seminars in South East Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines).

In July 2006, Dr Cooper presented a lecture on Genetic Diagnostics at the International Hormone Conference on the Gold Coast in Australia.
In September 2006 Dr Cooper was invited to lecture to the College of Family Physicians in Johannesburg South Africa, where he spoke on Genetic Diagnostics.
In December 2006, Dr Cooper was the principal lecturer at an Analytical Reference Laboratory (ARL) International Genetics Conference in Melbourne.
In January 2007 Dr Cooper presented 2 papers on Oestrogens and Genetic Polymorphisms at the first South African Academy of Aesthetic and Anti-Ageing Medicine Conference in Cape Town.
In April 2007 he lectured on Genetic Polymorphisms in Neuropsychiatry at The International Mental Health Summit on the Gold Coast.
In December 2007, he was a guest lecturer at the European Society of Anti-Ageing Medicine 13th Congress of Gynaecology, Andrology and Anti-Aging on the Genetics of Breast Cancer where he was also co-chair of the lecture session on Genetics.
In September 2008, Dr Cooper presented 3 papers on Genetic Polymorphisms, Nutrigenomics and Hormone Metabolites at the Pan-American Congress on Anti-Ageing Medicine in Montreal, Canada.
In March 2009, Dr Cooper completed training with the European Institute of Personalised Prevention in France achieving diploma certification in Genomics.
In December 2009, Dr Cooper achieved certification in Chelation Therapy (CCT) after completing training and passing the international examination for certification in Chelation Therapy through the American College for the Advancement of Medicine (ACAM).
In March 2010 Dr Cooper was invited to lecture at the Genetics and Epigenetics conference of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine Special Training Program (ACNEM STP) in Melbourne. The lecture was entitled ‘Dharma or Drama-Living and Eating for our Genes.’
In August 2010 Dr Cooper was invited to lecture at an ACNEM STP Cancer Conference in Queenstown New Zealand where he presented a paper on the Molecular Genetics of Breast Cancer.
In October 2011 Dr Cooper was invited to lecture at the Healthscope Functional Medicine Conference 2011: Hormones, Liver Detoxification and Nutrigenomics in Melbourne where he presented two lectures: ‘Genes, Hormones and Dharma’ and ‘Steroid SNPs, Cancer and Envirogenomics’.
Dr Cooper was the medical consultant of Genecare pharmaceuticals and lectured across Australia October & November 2011 on gene testing.
Dr Cooper was an international Medical Advisor for Genosense Diagnostics in Vienna from 2006-2012 and has lectured to doctors training in Genetic Diagnostics in Europe in 2007 and 2008.
He was the medical consultant of SciGen pharmaceuticals in Australia from 2005-2010.
In May 2012 Dr Cooper was invited to lecture at the Nutrition in Medicine Conference in Melbourne at the Nutrigenomics and Epigenomics pre-conference workshop where he presented a paper on ‘Living and Eating for our Genes’.
In April 2013 Dr Cooper completed an international two year post-graduate study and was awarded a Master of Science (MSc Preventive Medicine) degree at Dresden International University in Preventive Medicine, Anti-Ageing Medicine and Regenerative Medicine.

Dr Cooper was invited to lecture at annual AIMA (Australian Integrative Medicine Association) Conference on the Gold Coast, Australia, in October 2013, where he presented  two lectures on “Diagnostics: Genomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics, SNPS & CTCs -Early Detection of Cancer and Intravenous Vitamin C in the Treatment of Cancer: Towards Tumour Specific, Person Specific Management”.

In April 2015, Dr Cooper was invited to speak at the Philippines Pediatric Congress where he presented a lecture on Nutrigenomic Opportunities through Genetic Screening- Preventive Personalised Medicine. He has taught and lectured on meditation world-wide since 1975.

He is the director of his own health retreat and has conducted extensive programs in Mind Body Medicine.
He continues to research and lecture on Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Growth Hormone and Genetic Polymorphisms in Australia and internationally.

Dr. Cooper enjoys hiking, mountaineering and snow and ice climbing and has successfully climbed peaks in the US, South Africa, the Italian and French Alps, the Indian and Nepali Himalayas.
